VACCINATIONS: All vaccinations delivered by suitably trained pharmacists have always been covered by indemnity insurance as part of the standard PDA membership apart from Covid-19. For new membership renewals after January 1st, 2026, Covid-19 vaccinations are now also automatically covered.

    Around 260 pharmacists and foundation trainees at the community pharmacy multiple were sent a voting slip and prepaid return envelope several weeks ago. While many will have voted immediately, some may not yet have cast their vote.

  • GPhC’s latest guidance on online prescribing still does not go far enough to protect patients

    The PDA has expressed ongoing concerns associated with online prescribing and the provision of services at a distance. Following a short consultation in 2024, the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) has published revised guidance, which the PDA believes is a missed opportunity and needed to go further in the interests of patient safety.

    The upcoming first anniversary of the Pharmacy First Service in England on 31 January 2025, provided an opportunity for the PDA to survey its members to hear about their views and experiences of delivering the service to patients. This follows a Pharmacy First Service pre-launch survey in January 2024 which aimed to understand the preparedness and concerns among the workforce ahead of a hurried implementation.
