As the recognised independent trade union representing Boots store pharmacists, the PDA has built a network of trained representatives. Supported by PDA staff, the network are Boots pharmacists standing up for their colleagues. Here is the current team:
Anne Davies
Regional Representative, Wales
I’ve been a member of the PDA Union for several years, strongly believing in its core principle of supporting individual pharmacists. As a member of the West and Wales regional committee, I ensure the union communicates effectively with members across all pharmacy sectors. We discuss key issues, relay feedback to the wider PDA team, and perform vital union work, such as attending local events, national conferences, and recruiting new members.
Following comprehensive training, I can support pharmacists in disciplinary and grievance meetings. In addition to individual representation and advice, reps like me work to improve pharmacists’ working lives collectively at the Boots Group.

I have been employed by Boots for over 10 years which has given me a wide breadth of personal and professional experience. As your PDA Union representative I am committed to ensure our profession remains relevant, pharmacists take the lead in shaping the agenda and as a result pharmacy at Boots develops and thrives.

Darren Ayres
Regional Representative for Greater London South
I have worked for Boots for over 20 years and I am currently a pharmacist working in the Greater London area. I have had a number of different roles within the company. In my career at Boots, I have seen a lot of changes in that time. As a PDA Union Rep my passion is that pharmacists are listened to and supported.
Eddie Njenga
Regional Representative and OPD pharmacist
Initially employed at Sainsbury’s, I became employed by Lloyds Pharmacy when they acquired that network. When the PDA Union got recognition I volunteered to to be trained and as part of the PDA network represented my colleagues throughout the most turbulent of times as Lloyds Pharmacy closed. After all stores in Sainsbury’s were shut I transferred to a Hospital outpatient pharmacy, the contract for which was eventually taken on by Boots.
It’s an example of how things can change for anyone that I have now had three different employers due to corporate changes.
Gordon Finlayson
National Representative
I have been a pharmacist for over 35 years, over 25 years total with Boots. I have been actively involved in the PDA Union for over 10 years. What is important to me is that all pharmacists are treated fairly and equally in the workplace. I am one of the National Reps, and I am chair of the Boots Rep Network and lead the team in the annual pay negotiations with Boots. I spend my time supporting pharmacists to resolve any workplace issues they have and to ensure that they work in a safe and healthy workplace. It is important that pharmacists have an independent person to speak to should any issues occur at work. I am here for all Boots pharmacists.
Hala Jawad
National Representative
I have had a very varied pharmacy career in non-traditional roles but have also worked in both primary care and community pharmacy. I have been a PDA Union member since graduation and although fairly new to Boots am confident I can use my wider experience to develop this new role. I am excited to use these experiences as a PDA Union Regional and Divisional representative to support and represent my pharmacist colleagues and help bring positive change.
Jayesh Ladva
Regional Representative for the North West and West Yorkshire
I have worked in pharmacy for more than 20 years, across hospital, community, and pharmacy automation, giving me a broad perspective on the profession. I am proud to be part of the PDA Union Network in Boots, representing the views of around 4,500 pharmacists and trainee pharmacists.
I am a trained Health and Safety Representative, and support PDA Union members through a wide range of workplace challenges from raising grievances and attending disciplinaries to redundancy consultations and TUPE transfers.
Having been involved with the PDA since I was a student, I am passionate about supporting colleagues and making sure pharmacists feel represented, engaged, and supported at every stage of their career.

Richard Evans
Regional Representative , Northern Ireland
I have been a pharmacist for over 30 years working in various small and large companies, primary care and training, so have a broad spectrum of professional experience.
Pharmacy is forever changing, some for good and some not so good, so I feel it is very important that we make our working environment and conditions as good as it can be. As a union rep I can help achieve this by looking at the Health and Safety in our pharmacies and ensuring that all members are treated fairly and respectfully.
