The PDA has responded to the GPhC’s consultation on religion, personal values and beliefs and how these relate to patient care and professional responsibilities.
The GPhC proposes shifting the balance in its standards and guidance towards the rights of the person receiving care.
The PDA takes the view that the proposals, if enacted, would create the wrong balance, adversely affecting pharmacists. It has made recommendations as to how an appropriate balance of patients’ and pharmacists’ rights could be achieved. It is also concerned that the proposals could lead to discrimination against pharmacists and shift the balance of influence over the practice of pharmacy further towards employers.
