PDA LGBT+ Network marches at Manchester Pride 2025

For the fourth year in a row, the PDA LGBT+ Network proudly joined thousands of others in the heart of Manchester to celebrate Pride 2025, continuing their commitment to visibility, inclusion, and solidarity within the pharmacy profession.

The annual Pride parade is held over the August Bank Holiday weekend, and this year it took place on Saturday 23 August.

Manchester Pride is one of the UK’s leading LGBT+ charities, contributing to a global movement that champions LGBT+ equality and confronts discrimination. This year’s theme celebrated Love.

Love has always been a powerful source of strength and resilience for LGBT+ communities. In the face of both historical and ongoing challenges, love has empowered queer individuals to embrace their identities with courage and pride.

This year, the PDA was once again joined by charity partner Pharmacist Support, strengthening the message of unity and wellbeing across the sector. Danielle Hunt, Chief Executive at Pharmacist Support, shared, “My colleagues and I were really pleased to be invited to walk in the Manchester Pride parade alongside our charity partner, the PDA. We were so proud to walk with the PDA and its LGBT+ Pharmacists’ Network, coming together to celebrate and champion diversity within the profession. Our partnership with the PDA is built on the shared values of inclusion, wellbeing, and supporting pharmacists to thrive – so being part of Manchester Pride alongside them was very important to us.”

The PDA LGBT+ Network continues to highlight the importance of Pride not only as a celebration but also as a protest. Soh Xi Ken, co-opted committee member of the Network, reflected on the day, “It was good to see people come together for Pride in Manchester as we celebrate inclusion and diversity, but also to remember Pride is a protest – remembering that LGBTQ+ rights were won, not a given.”

As the rainbow flags flew high and the streets of Manchester filled with music, colour, and solidarity, the PDA LGBT+ Network stood proudly among the crowd – a visible presence reinforcing that inclusion, respect, and equality remain essential values within the pharmacy profession.

The PDA’s presence at Manchester Pride is part of its wider commitment to supporting LGBT+ pharmacists, trainees, and pharmacy students, advocating for equality and creating safe spaces for all. The network provides opportunities for members to connect, share experiences, and influence change across the profession.
