The Pharmacists’ Defence Association (PDA) condemns in the strongest terms the stabbing in Golders Green which targeted members of the Jewish Community. Our thoughts are with the victims, their families and the entire community at this distressing time. Hatred and violence directed at people because of who they are, have no place in our society.
The PDA opposes all forms of prejudice, discrimination and hate. We are committed to supporting and protecting our members’ safety and wellbeing, and we will continue to work with partners, employers and relevant authorities to help ensure pharmacists can live and practise free from fear, harassment or violence.
This violence occurred on the street but the fact London’s top police officer stood outside a community pharmacy in a cordoned off crime scene as he updated the media about the incident, also highlights the proximity community pharmacy can have to incidents, in any community. When accidents and injuries occur on the High Street, pharmacies are often viewed by the public as a safe place to receive expert advice and first aid for any victims.

The PDA works to support all members to be physically safe at work and as they travel to and from their workplace. Any members who are concerned about their safety at work should ensure they engage with their managers/employer in the first instance.
